Innovation with impact: What we learned from winning TecPrize 2025

In the ecosystem of L&D (Learning & Development) In Mexico, we tend to talk a lot about trends, but we rarely have the opportunity to see them applied and validated on a large scale. This week, in O-Lab IA, We lived an experience that marks a before and after in our path: we were recognized as winners at the TecPrize 2025.

But beyond the recognition, we want to share with you why this milestone is a sign of where corporate training is headed in our region.

The IFE (Institute for the Future of Education) Tec de Monterrey has established itself as the nerve center of educational innovation in Latin America. It is the place where academia and technology converge to solve the great challenge of today's organizations: the skills gap, or skill gap.

Within this framework, the TecPrize, an open innovation initiative that seeks the most disruptive solutions globally. Participating is not easy; it involves submitting your technology and pedagogy to the scrutiny of experts who are looking for real, scalable and, above all, human results.

O-Lab AI: Why we are redefining the training?

At O-Lab AI, We have always believed that technology should be at the service of people, not the other way around. Being TecPrize winners validates our vision of turning training into a high-impact experience.

What resonated with the jury and what are we already applying today in medium and large companies?

  • Efficiency with AI: The ability to design learning trajectories in a fraction of the usual time, without losing pedagogical rigor.
  • Immersion in 3D: The use of simulations to allow employees to practice in safe environments before facing operational reality.
  • Integration Flexibility: Understand that every company is different; either by leveraging the LMS they already use with high quality gamified content or by becoming their own personalized digital university.

Objective: Establish the baseline and the KPI before any intervention.

Before a single employee starts the course, apply a diagnostic evaluation (pre-test).

Focus on the KPI: This test should be brief (3-5 questions) and be directly related to the skill you are going to teach and the KPI you are looking to improve (e.g. reduce the incidence of operational errors, improve average response time, etc.).
